3-2-1 photo backup: never let one hard drive hold a whole wedding

Three copies, two kinds of media, one off-site, applied to a small studio.

The 3-2-1 rule

Three copies, two different types of media, one stored elsewhere. A memory card is not a backup.

For a small studio

Copy one on your work machine, copy two on an external drive, copy three in cloud storage. A Piklove gallery can serve as the cloud copy for selected photos.

When to wipe the card

Only after both first copies have been verified to open. Never wipe the card during the shoot.
